THE LIGHT How does the light propagate?
1)To verify that light propagates in straight lines 2)To compare an object with its projection on a rigid screen.
Instruments: 1)Rigid screen 2)Source of light (torch) 3)Object-semple (Card of dimensions 7x5 cm) 4)Rule to measure the dimension of the sample and the distances Proceeding...
We have put a card of fixed dimensions at a distance of 20 cm from the screen and at a distance of 10 cm from the source of light (formed by 3 led at different highs) and we have compared the high of the object with the ones of its projection.
After that we have notice that the projection is not composed by a uniform shadows, it is formed by shadows of different density, as the light rays coming from the torch aren’t perfectly collimated, they are not perfectly parallel to form a thin beam. We have reported the results on the notebook…
Using a different source of light in order to have collimated rays, we notice that light rays, joining the source of light the extreme of the object and its projection, form a straight line and similar triangles.
