The Italian alphabet: Pronunciation
Italian is easy to pronounce because it is a phonetic language, which means that it is pronounced the way it is written. Italian and English use the Latin alphabet, but the sound of many letters differs in the two languages. Once you become familiar with the Italian alphabet you will have no trouble spelling Italian words and pronouncing them correctly. The Italian alphabet has 21 letters. In addition, the letters j,k,w, x, and y are used in words of foreign origin. Every letter in Italian is pronounced except h.
