2 SUMMARY We consider the Lecce group involvement in the Mu2e tracker concluded. Following the referees’ suggestions, we have proposed to strengthen the EMC group by collaborating to the calorimeter mechanical structure. We present today the current Lecce situation, the work strategy for 2014, financial requests and cross-relations between Mu2e and MEG.

Mu2e/LE on Calorimeter -10% today with respect to "preventivi" 2014 on I-Tracker 6 researchers, 3.8 f.t.e. => 63% per researcher MEG/LE +22% today with respect to "preventivi" 2014 8 researchers, 7.7 f.t.e. => 96% per researcher complete orthogonality of f.t.e. between Mu2e and MEG except for F.G., but with a clear indication of his priorities complete orthogonality of activities and competences between Mu2e (essentially technological activities performed by engineers on the Calorimeter mechanical structure) and MEG (essentially activities made by physicists on design, wiring and track reconstruction of the drift chamber)

Assembly of corrugated sheets can be made of aluminium alloys steel titanium carbon fibre reinforced thermosetting composite matrix carbon fibre reinforced thermoplastic composite matrix The choice of the material will mainly depend upon rigidity, hygroscopicity, on design requirements like degassing properties, inner walls reflectance, geometry, mechanical tolerances, wall thickness, assembling procedures …

9 Strategy for Lecce contribution on Mechanics during 2014
Depending on the choice of the crystal, Study the structural properties of the honeycomb material (specific software required) Depending on chosen material, define the fabrication procedure of the honeycomb structure Design and build the necessary proper tools Fabricate (with LNF support) a prototype (2*1/12 wedge) with fake crystals Test, correct, finalize design Goal: to have a conceptual design and, possibly, a wedge prototype tested and ready by the CD2 presentation (end of Spring 2014)

10 Financial requests Ask for re-addressing of 2014 resources to described plan and clear s.j. (20 Keuro "missioni" + 18 Keuro "consumo") to start studying structural properties as a function of the chosen crystals and, therefore, proper materials and to prepare the necessary tools for prototype construction. After preliminary studies (June 2014), we'll be able to estimate real cost of the entire support structure.
