O’ clocks È l’ una = It’s one o’clock È is used when speaking about one o’clock. Sono le due = It’s two o’clock Sono is used when speaking about all other times.

4 Half Hour When you want to express that the time is half past you use the word “mezzo” È l’una e mezzo = It’s half past one. Sono le due e mezzo = It’s half past two.

6 Time past the hour When describing time past the hour, we use the word ‘e’: È l’ una e dieci = Its ten past one. Sono le due e dieci = It’s ten past two. Sono le cinque e venti = It’s twenty past five.

8 A quarter past When describing a quarter past, we use the following term ‘e un quarto.’ Sono le due e un quarto= It’s quarter past two. E’ l’una e un quarto = It’s quarter past one.

10 Time before the hour When describing time before the hour we use the word ‘meno.’ Sono le due meno cinque= It’s five to two. Sono le quatro meno venticinque = It’s twenty five to four.

11 Che ore sono? Write the following times in Italian:
It’s twenty five to three It’s twenty to five It’s ten to six It’s five to ten.

12 Quarter to… When describing that it is quarter to an hour we use the phrase, ‘meno un quarto’ Sono le tre meno un quarto = It’s a quarter to three.
