dormire means to sleep stem: dorm- conjugation: (io) dormo (tu) dormi (lui/lei) dorme (noi) dormiamo (voi) dormite (loro) dormono 3

9 but how can I tell if a verb belongs to the first or second category?
But… but… but how can I tell if a verb belongs to the first or second category? Is.. is.. is there a way? What? Two categories? Two? Yes, there is! (I’m glad you asked.) From the last letter of the verb, count backwards FIVE LETTERS. If you land on a consonant, the verb belongs to the first category. Examples: dormire aprire

10 …continued… And if you land on a vowel, the verb belongs to the second category. Examples: preferire finire An exception is restituire. It belongs to the second category, even though you land on a consonant. Wouldn’t you know there’d be an exception?
