14 Hotunui Hotunui è la grande casa di incontri, il wharenui, delle tribu di Hauraki. È fatto da un regalo di matrimonio nel 1878 della tribu Ngāti Awa. Ora Hotunui è nel cuore del museo e direttamente dietro il portone d ingresso, incorniciata da sei pilastri ionici del santuario sopra. Con la sua disposizione dentro il Maori Hall con altri manufatti maori, Hotunui è nell stesso tempo un lugo sacro e anche un oggetto della collezione.
