Mandato ► The task of ACCU is to advise the DG on the practical measures to be taken and administrative internal arrangements to be made by the CERN Management for the utilization of the CERN facilities for research. This concerns in particular the working conditions and the arrangements for technical support to the CERN Users for their activity at the CERN Laboratory. ► Questions dealing with the scientific programme of CERN do not fall under these terms of reference.

Nota Fino al 2003 era presente alle riunioni anche il DG, un direttore della ricerca, il direttore dell’amministrazione (a volte), il responsabile delle relazioni con i MS ACCU rappresenta tutti gli Users, staff e visitatori, appartenenti a tutti i dipartimenti [lo Users’ Office è stato parte delle divisioni NP, EP, PPE, EP e infine del dipartimento PH(-EP), adesso deve farsi carico di tutti gli users (non pagati, UPAS) con personale che invece non cresce]

– ACCU del.: DTF representative to follow up the question of Skype: ci sono genuini problemi riguardo alla sicurezza, esistono soluzioni, ma non è chiaro chi ci possa lavorare sopra, il contratto non è stato ancora firmato – other matters arising – (AFC 10/9) prestito (super)agevolato da FIPOI per costruire nuovi uffici: ci sono stati contatti informali del CFO e la richiesta è stata ricevuta favorevolmente: prima di procedere formalmente occorre l’autorizzazione del C/FC – il pre-progetto riguarda l’estensione del Bat. 40 (300 posti per ufficio, la metà chiusi) anche in questo caso ci si aspetta una reazione di ACCU/users – Ombudsperson intiative: la task force ha preparato un rapporto con la proposta di formare un working group che deve essere nominato dal management del CERN Action items (2)

Notizie dal management il Council di giugno ha accettato i 240 MCHf addizionali nel per evitare i problemi con nuove attività (aumento di luminosità, nuova catena di iniezione …), per metà forniti da F/CH, il budget 2008 deve essere negoziato questa settimana – LHC: la nuova schedula prevede collisioni nell’estate 2008; il settore 4-5 è stato raffreddato → alcune perdite; problemi con i plug-in modules, ma “solo” 5 su 500 – la celebrazione ufficiale dello start-up è fissata per il 21 ottobre 2008; ci sarà un Open Day il 5-6 aprile 2008 (sarà ancora possibile scendere nei pozzi), l’ultimo OD 04/10/16 fu un successo di pubblico inaspettato con >> 30 k visitatori – nomina del nuovo DG: short list, ma alcune delegazioni non sono contente della short list, riunione speciale del Council in ottobre

Rapporti di servizi del CERN Logistics and transport at CERN (Matti Tiirakari) material management rather complex, i) international organization & ii) INB imply delays; FI dept., ST dept. and various others involved and interconnected (before it was only one div.) → define & adapt services in collaboration with users’ dept., full traceability of operations, centralize the supply chain, harmonize stock management, optimize procurement (with other HEP labs.) Car sharing pilot project (Sascha Schmeling) no-logo PH cars (15 short term loan) → 38 unanswered requests short term (59 long term) – current average usage ~1 h/day; car sharing: market survey, cars + GPS etc. would cost 250 k (no cash this year)

Rapporti dei rappresentanti nei comitati Restaurant Supervision committee (CMartinezRivero ) il menu del R1 non è ancora sul Web, ma dietro un vetro, è stato aumentato il personale per la cena, i distributori automatici saranno Novae (4 dic.) e ce ne sarà uno nel MB Accomodation Facilities (ARosanov) già presentato negli Action items Scientific Information Policy Board (KFreudenreich) biblioteca, problemi di budget, alcune cancellazioni di abbonamenti di riviste, finanziamento di SCOAP3 (300 k per OA) – a questo proposito il SG osserva che le agenzie sono riluttanti a impegnarsi

Notizie UO – – rinnovo del contratto via EDH, è pronta una prima versione, da migliorare → UserContractRenewal (ma non tutti i TL hanno EDH!) – se un TL non è stato nominato entro la scadenza (2 mesi), il team sarà chiuso – PreRegistrationTool, nessun progresso da giugno – l’Attestation de Fonction necessita di essere rinnovata ogni anno, perchè? sarebbe auspicabile la Carte de Legitimation – 8,444 users sono registrati al momento – gli esperimenti durano 10 anni dopo il completamento: questo pone problemi in alcuni casi, eg Chorus Nomad

Da fare e da discutere – Soluzioni a breve termine per le foresterie etc.: regole chiare, alcuni miglioramenti (Web booking, ridurre il block booking, migliorare e rendere impersonale il servizio di prenotazione) – Soluzione a lungo termine, valutazione della necessità di ingrandire ulteriormente le foresterie – Spazio per uffici: con 300 posti addizionali, oltre ai 200 circa dati recentemente ad ATLAS-CMS, si dovrebbero coprire le necessità stimate in passato (una ulteriore indagine è/sarà in corso a breve)
