Gesù stava ancora parlando, quando dalla casa del capo della sinagoga giunsero alcuni che dissero a quest'ultimo: «Tua figlia è morta! Perché importuni ancora il Maestro?». Ma Gesù, avendo inteso per caso il discorso che facevano, disse al capo della sinagoga: «Non temere, ma solamente abbi fede !»………………… Giunti alla casa del capo della sinagoga, …………... entrato, disse loro: «Perché fate chiasso e piangete? La fanciulla non è morta, ma dorme». Quelli incominciarono a deriderlo. Ma egli, messili fuori tutti, prese con sé il padre della fanciulla con la madre e i discepoli ed entrò dove si trovava la fanciulla. Quindi, presa la mano della fanciulla, le disse: «Talithà kum!», che tradotto significa: «Fanciulla, ti dico, sorgi!». Subito la fanciulla si alzò e si mise a camminare. Aveva, infatti, dodici anni.
