VALLE DAOSTA- AOSTA VALLEY Aosta proviene dal nome della città Augusta Praetoria, fondata dallimperatore romano Augusto. The name «Aosta» derives from the town «Augusta Praetoria» founded by the Roman emperor Augusto. PIEMONTE - PEDMONT Il nome Piemonte deriva dallespressione latina ad pedem montium, perché situata ai piedi delle Alpi. LOMBARDIA - LOMBARDY La regione prende il nome della popolazione dei Longobardi che nel VI secolo invasero questo territorio. TRENTINO ALTO ADIGE La parola Trentino proviene dal latinoTridentum, mentre lespressione Alto Adige prende il nome dalla linea di confine posta nella valle dellAdige. FRIULI VENEZIA GIULIA Il nome Friuli deriva dal latino Forum Iulii, ossia Foro di Giulio. La seconda parte del nome, richiama le espressioni latine «Venetia» e delle «Alpes Iuliae».
