Obiettivi:  Passo ulteriore verso una infrastruttura sostenibile di Grid, estesa a livello planetario, con una qualità di produzione, capace di fornire servizi a un sempre maggiore numero di campi applicativi e rendendo la tecnologia di grid facilmente accessibile e usabile da nuove comunità.

Maggi - INFN Grid - Referee Meeting 28-29 agosto 2007 Il cofinanziamento al 50% Considerato  il livello di man power occorrente per mantenere e sviluppare l’infrastruttura  la limitazione nel budget (36.250.000 euro su 55.000.000 euro) È stato chiesto ai partner di cofinaziare il progetto con il 50% Sono stati proposti due schemi di cofinanziamento  A. 1/2 PM funded 100% reimbursed + 1/2 unfunded but declared in TS  B: all PM funded 50% reimbursed Lo schema A sembra più favorevole all’INFN  molto simile all’Additional Cost model  Si evita il problema della rendicontazione degli associati

Maggi - INFN Grid - Referee Meeting 28-29 agosto 2007 EGEE III e le JRU’s Decisione del PMB di EGEE II del 17 ottobre  The concept of the creation of Joint Research Units (JRU) for academic/research partners in each country receiving EU co-funding was endorsed Bob’s letter to EU (19 ottobre) requesting the continued support for JRUs in FP7. Decisione del PMB di EGEE II del 14 dicembre  EGEE-III will accept one academic/public research partner per EU-funded country. Those countries that have more than 1 such partner are invited to form a JRU and identify a single partner to sign the EGEE-III contract. The situation for individual partners that, for whatever reason, believe they cannot join a JRU will be considered on a case by case basis by the PMB.

Maggi - INFN Grid - Referee Meeting 28-29 agosto 2007 Grid access for the astronomical community (AGENA) Strumento:I3 Coordinatore/partners :INAF, AIP(Germania), ESA, UEDIN, CNRS, CSIC(Spagna) Scadenza call: sottomesso a maggio 2007 Durata:2 anni Budget totale: Strutture coinvolte:Padova, CNAF, Bari + più sezioni partecipanti ad INFN-GRID Infrastrutture coinvolte : Grid di produzione dell’INFN, GILDA Personale:4-6 unità Obiettivi:  Coordinating groups who are active in astronomical research and have already implemented the Grid paradigm for their computational needs.  Providing Grid access to a large community of scientists which up to now has been involved only partially in deploying its applications on the Grid.  Liaising with a number of projects in Europe related to astronomy, astrophysics and cosmology, to support their capacity computing needs through the use of the Grid. Improving middleware through continuous feedback with Grid developers (particularly within EGEE), in order to allow new requirements coming from the astronomical community to be satisfied.

Cambridge, Cilea ed STC + nuovi partners Scadenza call:sottomesso a maggio 2007 Durata:2 anni Budget totale: Strutture coinvolte:Bari, Catania, Padova, CNAF Infrastrutture coinvolte : Grid diproduzione dell’INFN Personale:4-6 unità Obiettivi:  Il progetto Bioinfo2GRID, facendo leva sull’esperienza maturata nel progetto BioinfoGRID, tuttora in corso, si propone di essere il punto di riferimento della comunità di bioinformatica in Europa con collegamenti anche in India, Africa ed America Latina.  L’attività di bioinformatica sull’infrastruttura di Grid europea, avviata con il progetto BioinfoGRID, verrà consolidata con l’inclusione di attività del tipo di WISDOM, per la ricerca attraverso la Grid di nuovi farmaci per le malattie trascurate nonché di attività di biomedicina con particolare riferimento al campo delle bio-immagini, e della epidemiologia.

Maggi - INFN Grid - Referee Meeting 28-29 agosto 2007 CORONA (NOBEL) Attualmente è attivo il progetto NOBEL2 Obiettivi di Nobel2  Studio delle problematiche relative alla definizione, implementazione ed integrazione di servizi di trasmissione a banda garantita su reti ottiche.  Sperimentazione di servizi e architetture innovative di rete in ambito geografico. Nobel2 finisce il 12-07-2008 Progetto non sottomesso.

StoRM Personale:4 unità Obiettivi:  to deploy a grid infrastructure to address the large computational needs of the European Economics and Finance research community, which is composed of pure academic groups, mixed industrial-academic partnerships and pure industrial quantitative groups.  to have this community well integrated into the larger European research grid infrastructures such as EGEE, where it can share its own resources as well as receive other resources; but equally important where it can network with high profile scientific communities and so seek transfer of knowledge and technology.

Coordinatore/partners : INFN(coordination), ASGC(Taiwan), University of Melbourne (Australia), NceSS and Univ. of Manchester (UK), HealthGrid (France), CESNET(Czech Republic), University Putra Malaysia (Malaysia-Indonesia-Brunei), ASTI (Philippines), Ateneo de Manila University,(Philippines) Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Information Technology, (Vietnam, Infocomm Development Authority (Singapore) Scadenza call:20 settembre 2007, INFRA-2007-3-3 :FP7 Capacities Work Programme - Research Infrastructures”, Durata:2 anni Budget totale: Strutture coinvolte:Milano Infrastrutture coinvolte : Tier1 e Grid Operation Centre al CNAF Personale: Obiettivi: “promoting international interoperation between similar infrastractures with the aim of reinforcing the global relevance and impact of European e-Infrastractures” to pave the way towards an Asian e-Science Grid Infrastructure, in synergy with the other European Grid initiatives in Asia, namely EGEE-III via its Asia Federation, and both EUChinaGRID and EU- IndiaGRID projects. EUAsiaGrid will act as a coordination action, aiming to define and implement a policy to promote EGEE middleware across Asian countries. Its main actions will be to spread dissemination, provide training, support scientific applications and monitor the results.

Personale:10 unità Obiettivi:  Continuare ed ampliare l’attività di EUChinaGRID avviata nel VI PQ  Realizzare una infrastruttura interoperabile di GRID fra Europa e Cina.  Le novità previste riguardano il supporto di nuove comunità scientifiche (Genomica) ed un’attività di Ricerca e Sviluppo sull’Interoperabilità dei Middleware di GRID con sviluppo di software e partecipazione attiva ai comitati di standardizzazione di OGF (Open Grid Forum).

Scadenza call:sottomesso a maggio 2007 Durata:2 anni Budget totale: Strutture coinvolte:Padova Infrastrutture coinvolte : infrastruttura di grid, Personale:2-3 unità Obiettivi:  Aim of the present project is the deployment of a Grid infrastructure specialized in MMS (Molecular and Matters Sciences) to develop innovative computational science applications by connecting laboratories exerting complementary expertise in a coordinated fashion. The project builds on top of the experiences developed in the European initiative COST (like D23 (METACHEM) and D37 (GRIDCHEM)) and in some EGEE virtual organizations (VO)s (like COMPCHEM, VOCE and GAUSSIAN) by the MMS community on whose research efforts relies a large share of modern innovation in material, environment, biology, medicine, drug design and space technologies.

Maggi - INFN Grid - Referee Meeting 28-29 agosto 2007 GRIDCC-II Strumento: Coordinatore/partners : INFN (Italia), INGV (Italia), Elettra (Italia), Nikhef (Olanda), Universita’ di Erlangen/Norimberga (Germania), Nestor (Grecia), IASA (Grecia), HMCR (Grecia), Marum (Germania) Scadenza call: INFRA-2007-1.2.3: e-Science Grid infrastructures, 20 settembre 2007 Durata:2 anni Budget totale: Strutture coinvolte:Legnaro (+Padova) Infrastrutture coinvolte : infrastruttura di grid, Tier 1 del CNAF, il Tier2 di Catania e Legnaro Personale:5-6 unità Obiettivi:  Partendo dai risultati ottenuti nel progetto FP6 GRIDCC, GRIDCC II si propone di integrare nell’infrastruttura europea di GRID quelle facility sperimentali scientifiche che possono benificiare di:  un accesso remoto e virtuale alla facility, permettendo agli sperimentalisti di operare dai propri laboratori;  un ambiente virtuale di cooperazione tra utenti della facility, indipendentemente da dove fisicamente risiedono. In questo modo gli utenti possono operate la facility e allo stesso tempo collaborare tra loro per prendere decisioni sui modi di operare, per valutare in tempo reale i risultati dell’esperimento, ecc.  un accesso on-line ai sistemi di calcolo e storage messi a disposizione dall grid europea, che diventa in questo modo l’infrastruttura principale di calcolo e storage di queste facility  A questo scopo sono state individuate due facility raccomandate nella mappa ESFRI, KM3NET e EMSO, che, per la loro natura distribuita e la loro dislocazione remota in siti di difficile accesso, richiedono appunto controllo e monitor remoto, coordinazione tra i diversi siti e che possono benificiare enormemente dalla loro integrazione nella grid di calcolo e storage europea.

Maggi - INFN Grid - Referee Meeting 28-29 agosto 2007 Grid Resource Reliable Repository - GRRR Strumento:CP Coordinatore/partners :CCLRC, CERN, PIC, IBM Scadenza call:non sottomesso Durata:2 anni Budget totale: Strutture coinvolte:CNAF Infrastrutture coinvolte :TIER1 Personale:6 Obiettivi:  The aim of this project is to build the next generation of more sophisticated and reliable grid based, global scientific data archive and storage systems, which will provide the massive data archive infrastructure through which global data sharing and data management can be enabled.  It will be robust and reliable, easily and simply deployed, maintained and operated. It will be secure, will have the potential to be scaleable and optimized to hundreds of Petabytes and billions of files. It will meet the necessary standards for building Data Management applications.  Existing communities of thousands of scientists within the world LHC community will benefit from this work, as will any other community of scientists who wish to use it.

Personale:10 unità Obiettivi:  Continuare ed ampliare l’attività di EUMEDGRID avviata nel VI PQ  Realizzare una infrastruttura di GRID nell’area del Mediterraneo.  Le novità previste riguardano due aspetti: supporto di nuove comunità scientifiche (Agronomia, Archeologia, Geofisica, Idrologia, Vulcanologia, Sismologia e Protezione Civile) ed aggiunta di reti di sensori alla infrastruttura
