4 L’ottone è una lega di rame e zinco che può avere
caratteristiche simili, ma diverse in base alla percentuale presente dei due metalli. Usato fin dai tempi remoti, trova utilizzo in varie applicazioni, sia in tutto ciò che riguarda la meccanica che negli impianti idraulici ed elettrici, sia per gli strumenti musicali che per innumerevoli oggetti di uso comune ed anche, infine, nella produzione di monili e ornamenti per il corpo, grazie anche al suo colore dorato e la sua particolare resistenza all’ossidazione. La percezione sensoriale nelle opere e negli allestimenti di Stefano Russo è coinvolgimento totale. Il linguaggio che l’artista adotta esprime le peculiarità delle materie scelte per la realizzazione dei suoi oggetti, in relazione alla sfera mentale, e ad una ricerca energetica di sensazioni emozionali. Stefano raccoglie dati e sensazioni nell’esperienza del mondo e le trasforma in linguaggi, in opere, in concetti e in emozioni. E per questo progetto sceglie l’ottone. Stefano Russo conduce da anni la sua ricerca sull’essere umano, sulla sua storia, sulle sue invenzioni, ma soprattutto sui processi percettivi che lo contraddistinguono. Stefano sa che in natura c’è più di quanto l’occhio possa vedere. E indagando si può scoprirlo. E crea degli strumenti per potenziare i sensi... Brass is an alloy made of copper and zinc which may have similar characteristics, but may differ depending on the percentage of each metal present. Used since remote times, it is implemented in various applications, in all mechanics regarding both hydraulic and electrical systems, musical instruments, numerous common use objects, but also for the production of jewellery for its golden colour and due to its particular resistance to oxidation. The sensorial perception in Stefano Russo’s artworks and installations is of total engagement. The language the artist adopts expresses the chosen materials’ peculiarities for the creation of his objects, in relation to the mental sphere, and to the energetic search of emotional sensations. Stefano recruits data and feelings in the worldly experience and translates them into languages, artworks, concepts and emotions, choosing brass to represent his current project. For years Stefano Russo has been conducting a research on the human being, on its history and inventions, but moreover on the perceptive processes which inscribe it. Stefano knows that in nature there’s more than meets the eye and that by research this discovery is possible, so he conceives instruments to enhance the senses…
