CNR is the Italian Node Coordinator We are creating a community and we support it to facilitate the participation in RDA activities involving institutions, single persons, infrastructures, working group and other initiatives IOSSG (the Italian Open Science Support Group) already joined the Node Italian Open Science Support Group ICDI Italian Computational and Data Infrastructure Already Joined the Node 30/05/2019

Why CNR? CNR is the largest Research Infrastructure in Italy and a member of ICDI CNR is involved in many projects and initiatives related to the field of data (Data4Impact, SoBigData, BlueBridge, ICDI,…) CNR is the Technical Coordinator of OpenAIRE CNR hosts the OpenAIRE National Open Access Desk CNR hosts the National Point of Reference for Open Science 30/05/2019 - @resdatall

Italian reality: Strong need for coordination in the fields related to RDA National issues where the National RDA Node plays a key role: Research Infrastructures Coordination Data related Services and Users need to get in contact (what are the tools provided? Do the potential user know about them?) Research Data Management training and support Data Repositories National Priority Area: Research Data Management Italian Reality: there is the need for coordination in RDA related fields regarding: * Research performing Infrastructures (CNR, INFN, …) : qui ci vuole piu’ coordinamento tra le infrastrutture della ricerca * Services and Users (what are the tools provided? Do the potential user know about them?) ci sono diversi tools diponibili (ad esempio tool che mi dicono quanto costa il Data Management) ma gli user lo sanno? Chi Ii usa? Chi li produce? Quali altri tool servirebbero? * DMP training and support will be carried out by the national node : I ricercatori conoscono il DMP? Conoscono I tool legati al DMP? Si dovrebbe creare una specie di Helpdesck nazionale per questo, offrendo una serie di servizi, ad esempio un tool in italiano per il DMP * Data Repositories. Quali Istituzioni hanno un data repository? Si potrebbe ad esempio cercare di centralizzare e unire piu’ istituzioni per creare un data repository utilizzato da tutti, oppure un IRIS dei dati (il CiNECA offre solo uno storage ai singoli ricercatori, non un repository per I dati. Le grandi RPO hanno un data repository? Il CNR no ad esempio. 30/05/2019 - @resdatall

5 What can the RDA Node do for the Italian Open Science Community?
Facilitate the relations within the Italian Open Science community as a catalyser of the Projects, Infrastructures, and Initiatives on the national level. Promote the interest of the Italian community in RDA Facilitate the participation of the Italian actors in RDA through the RDA Europe 4.0 Open Calls Organise events, workshop, training courses, webinars, on themes that address the community needs and interests. Make OS services and users meet Italian Reality: there is the need for coordination in RDA related fields regarding: * Research performing Infrastructures (CNR, INFN, …) : qui ci vuole piu’ coordinamento tra le infrastrutture della ricerca * Services and Users (what are the tools provided? 6 Dissemination of RDA activities and output
Dissemination at national level is performed in Italian on our page hosted by RDA and through thematic mailing list. The Italian RDA node coordinates the CODATA Data Science Journal special collection on RDA results. 4 CFP foreseen: September (submissions already closed and under review) March 2019 September 2019 Publication fees offered by RDA Europe 4.0 for 6 papers on each CFP 30/05/2019 - @resdatall

7 Training and Support Webinars Series (in Italian) has been organised jointly with OpenAIRE to disseminate RDA Europe Work and Open Science major theme within the Italian Community: A course or summer school on Data Stewardship will be organised in the framework of the Doctorate Course on Data Science, organised by CNR in collaboration with University of Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore, Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna and IMT 30/05/2019

8 Synergies with Spanish RDA Node
Identify a common theme for a joint Workshop in targeting a specific RDA community or a general interest. Joint Publication in the CODATA Journal special issues about RDA vision, strategy and roadmap. Adoption of RDA Outputs: we are reviewing RDA Recommendations and Outputs to encourage the adoption within the Italian and Spanish communities Accademic Thesis: dissertation projects will be offered to students in collaboration with Spanish Node on RDA specific topics 30/05/2019 - @resdatall
