8 All rights reserved © 2009, e-GEOS WP Progress Meeting SSO_A advantages/limits - An operator using the preliminary SSO (SSO_P) could never locate the above described OS visually, while SSO_A “objectively” selects OS candidates, thus identifying part of OS’s “invisible” to visual inspection - SSO_A is the first system to autodetect OS’s also in low glint conditions - SSO_A autodetection of only part of OS ROI is due to OS patchiness confirmed during the cruise: nearly clean water with thin film is often not optically very different from pure water...synergy with SAR observations necessary - SSO is limited by cloud cover...synergy with SAR observations necessary
