The future in English is recognize by the use of “will” or “shall” or “going to do something” + expression of time Next week, we’ll study for the test La settimana prossima studieremo per l’esame. In Italian if a future action if very close to the present: later today or tomorrow, they often use the present tense I’ll come to your house tomorrow Vengo a casa tua domani. (Using the future is not incorrect just not very Italian)

8 A special use of the “Futuro”
To express probability in the present, Italians use the future instead of using the present +“probabilmente” Quanti studenti ci sono in questa scuola? Ci saranno circa 3 mila studenti. Quanti anni ha la professoressa? Non lo so, avrà 50 anni. Bill Gates è molto ricco; quanti soldi avrà? Quei ragazzi non sono americani; da dove verranno?
