7 STORIA-HISTORY L’unità d’Italia risale al 1861, con la spedizione dei mille, quando Garibaldi è sbarcato in Sicilia con un esercito di circa mille uomini e ha risalito l’intera penisola. Però solo il 2 giugno 1946 l’Italia è diventata ufficialmente una repubblica, con le elezioni, a cui tutti gli italiani sono stati chiamati a votare, e per la prima volta hanno votato anche le donne.
