2 Il termine Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) fu coniato nel 1994, and lanciato nel 1996 dall Università finlandese di Jyväskylä e la Piattaforma Europea olandese per lEducazione, per descrivere metodi di apprendimento secondo cui agli alunni si insegna attraverso una lingua straniera con un doppio scopo, e cioè il simultaneo apprendimento di un contenuto e della lingua straniera.
