3 * Sapete la storia del telefono?? * Antonio Meucci invented the first telephone in the 1850s. Meucci was an Italian immigrant, born in Florence and moved to Staten Island. * Meucci was an inventor and a scientist. When his wife became paralyzed he used his telephone invention to join rooms of his house and his workshop next door so they could contact one another * He demonstrated his invention publically and New Yorks Italian newspapers reported on his invention. * He was unsuccessful in getting a patent and selling the product because of his limited English and fell into poverty * While he was working on a steamship, Meucci was severely burned in an explosion. While he was in the hospital his wife sold many of his models including the phone prototype. When Meucci sought to buy back his products he was told they were sold to an unknown young man whos identity is still a mystery today. * In the meantime Alexander Graham Bell filed a patent for the telephone calling it the «talking telegraph» * Meucci tried to sue Bell for fraud but the trial kept being postponed until Meuccis death in 1896.
