Obiettivi Generali Estensione di EGEE fuori Europa. Disseminazione della Tecnologia Grid gLite. Interoperabilità con Middleware di Grid di altre Regioni. Supporto a comunità applicative già presenti in EGEE: esperimenti LHC, BioMedici. Allargamento a nuove applicazioni e comunità: Scienza della Terra, Archeologia, Medicina, Genetica, Geofisica, Vulcanologia, Sismologia, ecc.

Motivazioni delle richieste Coinvolgimento in EPIKH (in negoziazione). Continuazione delle attività avviate nei progetti con caratteristiche best-effort. Progetti di prolungamento (call a fine 2008). Progetto di Grid per Beni Culturali sottomesso nel 2007 al FIRB (MIUR) con la Cina (ha ottenuto una valutazione “Eccellente”). Nuova proposta A3-MedSDI alla Call FP7 su “Scientific Data Infrastructures” che scade l’11 Settembre. Spese di gestione delle attività che non sono rendicontabili o che eccedono il budget (principalmente dedicato al personale).

EPIKH Exchange Programme to advance e-Infrastructure Know-How - EPIKH L’interesse principale è nelle attività di formazione, outreach e disseminazione delle tecnologie Grid. Presentato alla call FP7-PEOPLE-IRSES-2008, scaduta il 28 Marzo 2008 ha superato la selezione ed è stato invitato alla negoziazione senza tagli sul budget (1.1 M€). Il progetto dura 48 mesi e prevede soltanto contributi per mobilità. Coordinatore è il Consorzio COMETA – Roberto Barbera. L’INFN partecipa con le sezioni di CT (96 pm) ed RM3 (36 pm).

E’ confermata anche la partecipazione a ICT Sono stato contattato dagli editori della rivista e-strategies ( per un articolo dedicato al progetto sulla rivista prevista in distribuzione in occasione di ICT Si tratta di un’ occasione molto valida perché la rivista ha un impatto importante. Il costo e’ di 6.3 k-eur per editing e stampa. I fondi richiesti sono legati a supportare l’ attivita’ del progetto per i primi tre mesi del 2009 (preparazione della Review e Review a Brussels) e l’ attività di preparazione del nuovo proposal. Per il nuovo progetto si chiede un S.J. o un accantonamento che consenta l’ attività qualora venisse approvato. Poiché la call è prevista per dicembre 2008 si puo’ pensare, in caso di approvazione, di avere la negoziazione in aprile e la partenza del progetto per maggio-giugno

High profile speakers (HRH Princess Sumaya of Jordan, Mr. Mashour Abudaka Minister, Palestine, Dr. Najib Abdul Wahed Deputy Minister of Higher Education for Scientific Research, Syria, etc.) and qualified participation of European Commission. Conclusioni EUChinaGRID EUIndiaGrid ed EUMEDGRID hanno promosso l’uso di Grid nelle aree geografiche di interesse. I progetti EUChina ed EUMED hanno con successo passato la review finale il 6-7 Maggio EU-IndiaGRID è ancora in corso ed esteso fino a Gennnaio. La review finale avverrà nel Marzo Il Progetto EPIKH in corso di negoziazione richiederà uno sforzo importante su CT e RM3. Il progetto FIRB Italia-Cina se approvato porterà un ulteriore aumento dell’attività a CT, RM3 e FI. Si sta preparando una call “speciale” per support actions focalizzate su: Mediterraneo, Cina, India e US?. Uscirà agli inizi di Dicembre EUChinaGRID, EUIndiaGrid ed EUMEDGRID proporranno una continuazione.
