Zaninotto, Università di Trento, I December, 2016 CSN2 KM3NeT: The failure of the 3rd string is a reason of concern (although the string was recovered and the problems identified). However, its strategic importance is very high so INFN should continue to support it, and consider postponing the tower deployment for the moment to continue with strings first. In this way the decisione on best use of the towers (e.g. for a dense core) can be made without time pressure

Nel dicembre 2014 call per «INVITO A PRESENTARE MANIFESTAZIONI DI INTERESSE PER L’INSERIMENTO NELLA RETE DELLE INFRASTRUTTURE DI RICERCA DEL PIANO NAZIONALE DELLE INFRASTRUTTURE DI RICERCA- PNIR» Il Contesto Le prime 3 I.R. della graduatoria sono state inserite nel PNIR. Nel PNIR sono state, inoltre, individuate le I.R. ritenute strategiche per il paese (17) tra cui i LNS (Laboratori Nazionali del Sud) e KM3NeT. KM3NeT è l’unica infrastruttura con sede in Sicilia ad essere inserita nella nuova road map ESFRI (2016-2020)

Il Laboratorio Multidisciplinare Distribuito sul Mare Il Laboratorio è stato indicato dalla Regione Siciliana come l’I.R. a più alta priorità strategica da inserire internamente al PNIR (Piano Nazionale delle Infrastrutture di Ricerca). KM3NeT è una parte fondamentale di questo Laboratorio che coinvolge i principali EPR Italiani.
Finanziamento POR Regione Siciliana (scadenza 31/12/2019) Progetto INFN-INGV-CNR: 40 M€ cofinanziato al 50% dalla Regione INFN 34.5 M€, INGV 5 M€, CNR 0.5 M€. Per INFN 2.15 M€ da Premiale Labmed, 14 M€ da Foe Esfri Km3NeT (2016-2019), Personale 0.6 M€,Budget LNS 0.5 M€. Il programma di attività è stato definito assieme al management di Km3NeT.
