Isotopic analysis and carbon cycle models established that the increase in carbon dioxide was due to fossil fuel consumption. With the rise in those greenhouse gases, Earth experienced an unusually rapid rise in its average temperature—increasing ~0.75°C since 1880.

What about sea ice extent shrinking?

Poor countries will not abandon their efforts to relieve poverty by reducing the use of coal, oil, natural gas. Introduce a cap-and trade process to charge for the use of coal, oil, etc. At present we have no practical replacement for such energy (solar and wind are insufficient, and nuclear may become safer in the future).
