Castano Primo

Introduzione Castano Primo è una cittadina situata nellItalia nord- occidentale, non lontano da Milano a cui è collegata dalla linea ferroviaria. Castano aveva fino a qualche anno fa una frazione Casa Delle Barche. La nostra città è attraversata da un canale artificiale, il Villoresi. Castano si trova nel parco del Ticino,il parco più importante d Europa. Castano Primo is a small town in the north-west of Italy not far from Milan to which it is linked by the railway. Up to some years ago in Castanos borough there was a village called Casa Delle Barche. Our city is crossed by an artificial canal, the Villoresi. Castano lies in the Ticinos park, the most important river park in Europe.

Cenni storici... Il più antico documento in cui compaia il nome di Casteno è un atto del 712 riferito a una donazione del Re longobardo Liutprando in favore di un monastero di Pavia. Nel Medioevo esisteva un castello di cui è rimasta memoria nello stemma del Comune. Nel corso dei secoli appartenne a varie casate tra cui i Visconti e gli Sforza. Dopo lUnità dItalia, nel 1863, Castano aggiunse al proprio nome laggettivo Primo, per decreto del Re Vittorio Emanuele II, al fine di distinguersi da altri centri omonimi di minori dimensioni. Ai primi del 900 i settori più sviluppati erano quelli della filatura della seta e della tessitura seguiti dalla meccanica. Tra gli eventi più drammatici del XX secolo a Castano ricordiamo le vicende della Seconda Guerra Mondiale e della Resistenza, ed in particolare il sacrificio dei Tre Martiri Patrioti (Franco Griffanti, Antonio Noè e Franco Noè), fucilati dagli occupanti tedeschi il 26 febbraio A partire dal secondo dopoguerra Castano andò in contro ad un sempre più accentuato sviluppo tanto urbanistico quanto produttivo. Per arrivare a tempi più recenti, l11 ottobre 1984, con decreto del Presidente della Repubblica, a Castano è stato riconosciuto il titolo di Città. The most ancient document in which the name "Casteno" appears is a deed of gift signed in 712 by the Longobard King Liutprand, in favour of a monastery in Pavia. In the Middle Ages a castle stood in this area, its memory can be traced in Castanos coat of arms. Over the centuries the castle changed several owners, among whom the Visconti and the Sforza families. After the Italian Unity, in 1863, Castano added to its name the adjective PRIMO (the First), by decree of King Vittorio Emanuele II, in order to be distinguished from other smaller towns with the same name. At the beginning of the twentieth century the most developed fields were those of the spinning of the silk and of the weaving, followed by the technological one. Among the most tragic events of the twentieth century in Castano, we can remember the facts linked to World War II and the Resistance Movement, in particular the sacrifice of the Three Martyr Patriots (Franco Griffanti, Antonio Noè and Franco Noè), shot by the Germans on 26 th February After the war Castano went through a period of great productive and urban development In recent times, on 11 th October 1984, by presidential decree, Castano has been given the title of City.

Storia dello stemma del comune di Castano Primo. Evidenzia nel suo scudo due figure principali: lalbero fogliato, identificato nel castagno e il castello dargento che allude alle guerre anticamente combattute sul territorio. Da vedere PREPOSTITURALE DI SAN ZENONE Fu edificata nel 1345 sulle rovine del distrutto castello, inglobando una cappella dellVIII secolo. Fu rifatta nelle forme attuali verso la fine del 700. Vi si venera il Santo Crocifisso taumaturgo, scultura lignea del 500, in onore del quale si tengono solenni festeggiamenti ogni 25 anni. It was built in 1345 on the ruins of the destroyed castle and around a chapel of the eighth century. It was rebuilt in the present architectural style towards the end of the eighteenth century. Here it is venerated the Holy Thaumaturge Crucifix, a wooden sculpture of the sixteenth century. In its honour great celebrations are held every 25 years.

Da vedere … The Via crucis of the Previati: The work was realized in 1888 in fresco under the porch of the Cemetery by the famous painter Gaetano Previati. In recent times the 14 paintings (that measure m.1,70 x 2,60) have been pulled away and put on canvas. Temporarily the Via Crucis is shown in the Diocesan Museum of Holy Art in Milan, but soon it will be put back in Villa Rusconi. Madonna of Grè: Sanctuary consecrated to the Madonna of the Snow, it stands in the woods to the north of the urban area, not too far from the stream Arno. It preserves a wooden statue of the Virgin Mary and it maintains unchanged the sober sixteenth- century architectural lines. Bridge of Castano and House of the Boats: They are both places situated in the outskirts of Castanos borough in the valley of the Ticino, at about 4 Kms. from the centre. At the Bridge of Castano, where the Naviglio Grande is crossed by an eighteenth-century stone bridge, in the past centuries there were some hydraulic mills, veryl important for the local economy. Going as far as to the river Ticino, there is the House of the boats, landing point for boats opposite the Piemontes bank. Ponte di Castano e Casa delle Barche: Si tratta di località situate nellestrema propaggine del territorio castanese nella valle del Ticino, a circa 4 Km. dal centro. Al Ponte di Castano, dove il Naviglio grande è attraversato da un ponte in pietra settecentesco, erano attivi nei secoli passati dei mulini idraulici, assai importanti per leconomia locale. Proseguendo fino al fiume Ticino si trova la Casa delle Barche, punto di approdo per imbarcazioni antistante la sponda piemontese. Madonna di Grè: Santuario intitolato alla Madonna della Neve, si trova nei boschi a nord dellabitato, a breve distanza dal torrente Arno. Conserva una statua lignea della Vergine e mantiene inalterate le sobrie linee architettoniche cinquecentesche. La Via crucis del Previati: Lopera venne realizzata nel 1888 in affresco sotto il porticato del Cimitero dal famoso pittore Gaetano Previati. In epoca recente i 14 dipinti (che misurano m.1,70x2,60) furono strappati e riportati su tela. Provvisoriamente la Via Crucis è esposta al Museo Diocesano dArte Sacra di Milano, ma presto verrà ricollocata in Villa Rusconi.

ESPOSIZIONI IMPORTANTI E PIATTI TIPICI IMPORTANT EXHIBITIONS AND TYPICAL DISHES One of the most important exhibitions of our area has been held in Inveruno for four hundred years: the ancient Saint Martins fair. It takes place around the eleventh of November and lasts three days. It gathers exhibitors from every Italian region. During this special event, we cook a traditional dish, which is typical of Northern Italy: the cassoeula. The recipe varies from village to village, but it always includes: cabbages, pork meat (all the parts that cannot be conserved including skin, head, feet) and small sausages. In Castano Primo three trade exhibitions have been held for more than ten years with stands showing different types of goods. Una delle più importanti esposizioni della nostra area si tiene a Inveruno da quattrocento anni: lantica fiera di San Martino. Prende luogo intorno allundici di novembre e dura tre giorni. Raccoglie espositori da ogni regione italiana. Durante questi eventi speciali, cuciniamo un piatto tradizionale, tipico del Nord Italia: la cassoeula. La ricetta varia da paese a paese, ma include sempre: verze, carne di maiale (tutte le parti che non possono essere conservate incluso pelle, testa, piedi) e salsicce. A Castano Primo si tengono tre esposizioni commerciali da più di dieci anni con bancarelle che espongono differenti tipi di prodotti.

Il Parco del Ticino Il "Parco del Ticino" si estende su due regioni: Piemonte e Lombardia. E composto da due enti: il piemontese Parco Naturale della Valle del Ticino e il Parco Lombardo della Valle del Ticino. Il Parco piemontese valorizza i soli elementi naturali. Il parco lombardo, si snoda dal Lago Maggiore fino al Po e comprende lintero territorio di quarantasette comuni. Poiché occupa unarea vicinissima a Milano, è possibile una intensa interazione tra lattività umana e quella naturale. The "Park of the Ticino" stretches between two regions: Piemonte and Lombardy. It is composed by two agencies: the Piemontese Natural Park of the Ticino Valley and the Lombard Park of the Ticino Valley. The Piemontese Park preserves mainly the natural elements. The Lombard park spreads from Lake Maggiore to the river Po and includes the entire territory of forty-seven boroughs. Since it is very close to Milan, there is an intense interaction between human and natural activities.

The new law of the Park traces a new philosophy in the policy of protection of the river and its areas. The river offers an extraordinary landscape of nature, art, history and architecture, that allows the visitor to study "from alive" an original culture made of brave experimentations and kowledge reinforced by a long tradition and applied to great and often radical transformations of the settlements.
