2 The future tense describes: What WILL happenSomething that is going to happen Something that has not yet happened NOWILL In Italian, there is NO word for WILL. Soooo, to express the future tense (will) you simply need to conjugate verbs with the future tense endings. Next Slide: Future Tense Endings!!

3 How to conjugate! Know the endings! *ALL endings are the same.. For ARE, ERE, or IRE verbs!* Do NOT forget The accents!

7 Yup… there are irregulars!! BUT For example: Andare - becomes – andro`, andrai, andra` (etc.) The irregulars in the future tense use the same endings (ro, rai, ra, remo, rete, ranno) The irregular part is the stem of the verb. Irregulars on the next slide…

8 Andare Vivere Vedere Potere Avere Dovere Dare Fare Stare *Essere Bere Venire Volere These are the stems of the irregulars – the endings are the regular future endings andr- vivr- vedr- potr- avr- dovr- dar- far- star- sar- berr- vorr- verr- These stems have a pattern: Remove the two vowels surrounding the R in the ending: Andare = Andr- Mini irregulars Just get rid of the E! Really irregular… Just memorize!! Double R!! Memorize These!!
