2 WHAT IS IT ? ReferNet is a network created by Cedefop in 2002 to provide information on national vocational education, training (VET) systems and policies in Member States, Iceland and Norway ReferNet provides information on publications, conferences, recent VET developments and initiatives in the Member States. The network also supports Cedefops communication strategy Information is displayed in Cedefop databases and is used for comparative studies. 3 HOW DOES IT WORK? The network comprises national consortia in each Member State, Iceland and Norway. Each national consortium is led by a national coordinator and groups key organizations involved in VET issues The leader consortium is responsible for ensuring that the activities agreed in the annual work plan are performed satisfactorily In Italy, the leader consortium for Refernet is ISFOL. … what about other countries? 6 Istituto per lo sviluppo della formazione professionale dei lavoratori MAIN ACTIVITIES OF REFERNET NATIONAL NETWORK 1.Bibliographic references – ReferNet contributes to developing and maintaining Cedefops bibliographic database (VET-Bib) which is the largest collection of VET literature in Europe (more than records) 2.Collection and analysis of documents concerning national VET systems 3.Support, communication and dissemination of VET research activities at national level.

Istituto per lo sviluppo della formazione professionale dei lavoratori MAIN PRODUCTS OF REFERNET NATIONAL NETWORK 1.National VET policy reports – provides information on progress in VET policy at national level. It is the source for the comparative Cedefop Policy Report, which monitors progress in modernizing VET systems in Europe 2.National research reports – updated on most recent national VET research. Source for Cedefop European research overviews on issues of cross-national interest 3.VET in Europe country reports – Cedefops database provides descriptions of national VET systems in all partner countries.

8 Documentary Activities o VET-Bib includes the largest collection of VET literature in Europe o bibliographic references collected in the last 20 years with 400 new entries every month o Main topics reflect Cedefops priorities and include: VET policy, training systems, qualifications and competences, lifelong guidance, skill needs, lifelong learning, EQF, ECVET,... o The collection contains research reports, EU policy and legislative documents, statistics, journal articles, proceedings, comparative studies, databases, websites and grey literature.
