Allergeni ricombinanti
Muller, Allergy, 2002
9
Molecular cloning and expression in insect cells of honeybee venom allergen acid phosphatase (Api m 3). The availability of recombinant Api m 3 provides a tool for both the development of improved diagnostic tests and the design of safer and more effective immunotherapeutic approaches for honeybee venom allergy. Grunwald T, Allergy Clin Immunol. 2006
10
Muller, Allergy, 2002
11
Allergic reactions to epidemiologically less relevant Hymenoptera
To avoid false-negative and false-positive responses to diagnostic tests and in order to completely protect allergic patients from the effects of subsequent stings, the commercial extracts of venom should be prepared with appropriately selected species U.R. Muller Allergy 2002

Hoffman DR JACI 2001
15
Polistes spp The species Polistes dominulus and Polistes gallicus are European paper wasps belonging to the subgenus Polistes, while the species Polistes exclamans, Polistes annularis (subgenus Aphanilopterus) and Polistes fuscatus (subgenus Fuscopolistes) are typical of North America P. dominulus, has spread also in the northeastern United States; this adds even more interest to the characterization of European Polistes venom D.R. Hoffman J.Allergy Clin Immunol 1990 R. Cervo Insectes Soc. 2000
16
Polistes spp It is particularly important for diagnosis and therapy of Polistes allergic patients to choose the proper venom , since this genus is the most distantly related in the Vespidae family and since there is only partial cross-reactivity between European and American Polistes venoms. F. Sanchez Clin. Exp. Allergy 1995 D.R. Hoffman J. Allergy Clin Immunol 1997 M. Severino Ital. J. Allergol Immunol 1998

40

Quality of life in patients allergic to Hymenoptera venom in Italy before and after immunotherapy

Venom immunotherapy improves health-related quality of life in patients allergic to yellow jacket venom Seventy-four patients agreed to be randomized, of whom 36 received VIT and 38 an Epi-Pen. The improvement in quality of life was statistically significant (P< .0001) in the group randomized to VIT, compared with that seen in the group randomized to the EpiPen.
