13 La sera di quello stesso giorno, il primo della settimana, mentre le porte del luogo dove si trovavano i discepoli per paura dei Giudei erano chiuse, venne Gesù, stette in mezzo a loro e disse: «Pace a voi!». E, detto questo, mostrò loro le mani e il fianco. Si rallegrarono i discepoli, vedendo il Signore. (Gv 20, 19-20) On the evening of that day, the first day after the sabbath, the doors were locked where the disciples were, because of their fear of the Jews, but Jesus came and stood in their midst. He said to them, "Peace be with you"; then he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples kept looking at the Lord and were full of joy. 15 May 11 th 2008, the Holy Word says to us Pentecost (50 days after the Resurrection) is amongst the most important Christian solemnities in as much as, it is from that that occasion onwards that the Holy Spirit began Its guiding and supporting action(s) in favor of the Church. Jesus, in fact, kept His promise by sending the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles gathered together. We know from the Acts that the Holy Spirit’s signs are wind and fire, symbolizing spiritual life as well as its completeness and vigor. It is thanks to the Holy Spirit that we can affirm that Jesus is the Lord. (1 Cor.). Many are the Holy Spirit’s gifts and charismas that have been present in the Church from the start. John narrates, in his Gospel, how Jesus appeared to the Apostles behind closed doors, bringing them the gift of peace. In this episode, Jesus sent them into the world and instituted the Sacrament of Confession. Pentecost set the seal on the deep relationship between God and men, whom the Holy Spirit forgives and purifies, generating them into new creatures. The Holy Spirit is the soul of the Church which in Him is tightly united. Pentecost is experienced anew in the three fundamental sacraments for a Christian: Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist, all of which transform men into children of God. When we are in the midst of a confusing and/or misunderstanding situation and in spiritual chaos, be it at social level or at on an individual level, we have to learn to always invoke the Holy Spirit’s action upon all of us. It is the Holy Spirit that really makes us free and gives us joy, dignity and Hope. Wishing you all true Peace and a Holy Sunday. La Pentecoste (50 gg. dopo la Risurrezione) è tra le grandi solennità cristiane poiché, in quella data, lo Spirito Santo comincia la sua azione, mai interrotta, di guida e sostegno della Chiesa. Gesù, infatti, mantenne la sua promessa inviando il Santo Spirito sugli apostoli radunati assieme. I segni dello Spirito Santo sono il vento e il fuoco (Atti) che simboleggiano la vita, la completezza e il vigore spirituale. E’ proprio grazie allo Spirito Santo che possiamo affermare che Gesù è il Signore (1 Cor). Molti sono i doni ed i carismi dello Spirito Santo, da sempre, presenti nella Chiesa. Il Vangelo di Giovanni narra l’apparizione di Gesù, agli apostoli, avvenuta a porte chiuse, portando il dono della Pace. In questo episodio Gesù invia i discepoli nel mondo e istituisce il sacramento della Confessione. La Pentecoste suggella il profondo rapporto tra Dio e gli uomini, che lo Spirito perdona e purifica, generandoli creature nuove. Lo Spirito Santo è l’anima della Chiesa che in Lui è strettamente unita. La Pentecoste è rivissuta nei tre sacramenti fondamentali del cristiano: Battesimo, Cresima ed Eucaristia che trasformano gli uomini in figli di Dio. Quando viviamo situazione di confusione, d’incomprensione e di disordine spirituale, sia a livello sociale sia personale, dobbiamo imparare ad invocare sempre l’azione dello Spirito Santo su tutti noi. Lo Spirito Santo ci rende veramente liberi e ci dona gioia, dignità e Speranza. A tutti auguro la vera Pace ed una santa Domenica. 11 Maggio 2008, la Parola di Dio, ci dice g.l.
